I am so thankful that the same God that is alive and in control when life is good and we are having the time of our life, is the same God who is in perfect control when things are tough.
God is not surprise by our tough times. He will not allow a storm in our lives unless He has a divine purpose for it.
He promises us in His Word in Roman 8:28 “That in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” (NIV)

The winds of the storm are directed by God to blow us where He dictates. Storms are God’s tools to move us from point A to point B.
No matter how strong the winds may be or how bad the circumstances may look, God directs them to blow you to new levels of your destiny

Joel Osteen in this sermon, points out that we all have God-given dreams that we hoping God will fulfil and God’s promises we are standing on. However, when situations become uncertain, we react with doubt saying “I won’t be able to do that. I am too young or I am too old or I don’t have the connections”

Joel, in this insightful message, reminds us of what God said to Jeremiah.
To walk through life in Victory, we should speak words of Victory and not of defeat!
As we learn to speak words of Faith, your words will open the doors for God to move in greater ways in your life!

Once again, America has been rattled by another mass shooting. However, this time, the horrific mass shooting of Children at the Sandy Hook Elementary School has more than ever, evoked request that the issue of gun controlled be addressed promptly.

Pastor Joel Osteen joined well meaning voices to address Gun control in the wake of Sandy Hook School shooting.

Joel Osteen Speaks On Gun Control After Sandy Hook School Shooting

Christian pastor Joel Osteen appeared alongside his wife and children on NBC’s “Today” show Monday to discuss the recent tragedy which occurred in Newtown, Conn., on Dec. 14, in which 26 children and adults were shot to death at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

Specifically, Osteen addressed the issue of gun control, which has been a major discussion in recent days in light of the Newtown tragedy.

When “Today” host Matt Lauer asked Osteen if he believes it is his responsibility to take a stand regarding guns in the U.S., Osteen responded: “I really don’t Matt, because political issues divide us.”

“For what I’m doing, I’m trying to reach as many people as possible. There are good people on both sides of the aisle, and I don’t know what the best answer there is either, but I just try to guide them and give them hope in this time of need,” Osteen added.

Osteen also addressed the question that many Americans ask when such tragedies strike: “Why does a good and kind God allow something like this to happen?”

“God gave us all our own free will. He gives us freedom of choice, He didn’t make us his robots,” Osteen told Lauer.

“Unfortunately, some people choose to do evil, and we don’t always understand it, but I still believe that God is good and God is for us, but He doesn’t make us do what’s right,” Osteen added.

The pastor of Lakewood Church and his wife, Victoria Osteen, went on the NBC morning program to speak about the importance of faith and family during such tragedies, with Mrs. Osteen saying: “This is a time that we can reflect as a family, that we can learn to really say I love you and appreciate each other.”

In Joel Osteen Sermons today, he emphasises that, “God doesn’t bless mediocrity, God blesses excellence. When you have an excellence spirit, you do the right thing whether any one is watching or not.”

Joel observes that “People do not take pride in their work or who they are. When somebody is watching they work one way, but when nobody is watching they cut corners and take the easy way out. If we are not careful, we will be pulled into the same mentality”.

Joel points out that it honours God when we have a spirit of excellence.
He illustrates this, using different personalities in the Bible and a lot of lives example.

He concludes that Favour and excellence go hand in hand. Increase, promotion, reaching your highest potential is tied to the spirit of excellence.

Joel Osteen’s Quotes On Death at Sandy Hook

The Lakewood Church pastor recently spoke about how to move forward from the Dec. 14 tragedy, saying that in a roundabout way, he believes the tragedy “teaches us to prioritize what’s important in our lives.”

“There is no guarantee of tomorrow, I wish there was, but it makes us all realize, even as a nation, how fragile life really is, and every day are we taking time to tell the people we love how much we love them and taking the time for what matters most,” Osteen told Entertainment Tonight in a Dec. 17 interview.

“We can take this, as a nation, to say, ‘you know what, here’s a wake up call, are we taking time for those closest to us?’”

Joel Osteen Sermons

I would like to share an incredible story of the power of forgiveness with you. And the best part is, this same power is available to all of us today, the “mighty power that raised Christ from the dead” (Ephesians 1:19–20, TLB). This power is yours because Jesus Christ arose from the tomb on that first Easter morning!

Nothing is more amazing or significant than the power displayed at the Resurrection. This is what separates our faith from any other on earth. Jesus paid the ultimate price for our sins on the cross. He lived a perfect and sinless life and gave it as a sacrifice for your sins and mine. And when all hope seemed to be gone He miraculously came to life again. What this means is:

When we accept Him as our Lord and Savior we are completely forgiven … for anything … for everything … forever!

The story begins with a boy when he was only 14 years old. His father was abusive and eventually the relationship erupted into a terrible fight. When it was all over the dad kicked his son out of the house.

That night all alone, this young boy was devastated, discouraged — his life seemed shattered. He had no place to go, and he finally decided that life just wasn’t worth living. So, having lost all hope and having no one to turn to, he went to a big bridge and prepared to jump.

But just as he was about to jump, he heard a voice that said to him, “Don’t do it! I’ll be your father. I’ll be your protector. I will guide you throughout life.” All of a sudden, he sensed warmth all over his body, from his head to his feet. And he felt a love that he had never experienced before. What he was feeling was the unconditional love and acceptance of God. It was the love that the Bible promises: “Even if my father and mother abandon me, the LORD will hold me close” (Psalm 27:10, NLT).

Moments in life – Joel Osteen Sermons

From that moment on, this teenager who suffered so much rejection, hurt and pain made a decision that would change the course of his life.

<script type="text/javascript"

He decided that he wasn’t going to hold a grudge against his father. He wasn’t going to allow bitterness and unforgiveness to take root in his heart. Although he did not see his dad, he forgave him and let all the pain and hurt of his past go, and as he moved forward in hope and forgiveness, God began to supernaturally restore him.

Today, some 22 years later, this young man is a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He was in the pulpit one Sunday when out of nowhere, his father walked into the auditorium. The young man hadn’t seen his dad since that night when he was kicked out of his home. But at the end of that service, during the altar call, his dad came down with big tears running down his face. He not only asked his son to forgive him, but he asked Jesus to be the Lord of his life.

There must have been a lot of rejoicing in heaven that day, because the Bible says, “Heaven will be happier over one lost sinner who returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away!” (Luke 15:7, NLT).

So I have good news for you today. No matter where you are in life, what problems you may struggle with, no matter what you have done in the past, or what someone else has done to you, Jesus is able to wipe the slate clean. You can experience that same power of the Resurrection. The power to be forgiven and to forgive. Jesus is alive — and He wants to live in and through you today — that is what Easter is all about.

The Way to Victory by Joel Osteen Sermons

You may be in a relationship that has been dead for years, like this young man I told you about. You may be feeling the pain of negative words spoken over your life, or maybe you’ve spoken to someone else and you wish you could take back. Maybe there are things in your past that you think can’t be forgiven. Or maybe you feel guilt for some past failure or resentment and unforgiveness toward someone who has wronged you.

Whatever your need may be, let God meet it! Allow the power of His forgiveness to sweep across your heart and life and make everything new.

I want to help you rediscover that power in a new, fresh way — so you can experience hope, peace, joy and victory in every area of your life.

God is not waiting for you to become a better person before He forgives you. Jesus paid the price on the cross for all our sins — “while we were yet sinners Christ died for us,” the Bible says in Romans 5:8. He did it simply because He loves you and wants to have a relationship with you.

And the result of this astounding, unconditional love and total forgiveness is that we no longer have to live under the condemnation and guilt of sin. We can live the abundant life that Jesus talked about — a life full of hope, a life of purpose, a life of unlimited potential.

We all have times when we wake up in the morning and feel the blahs and blues; we don’t feel very excited. But just because we feel those emotions doesn’t mean we have to stay there and give in to them; we can shake it off and move forward in faith relying on God’s strength.

A great example of someone in the Bible who had a lot of experience in shaking off negative emotions is David. He had to fight being moody, and he was the King of Israel. He had all kinds of opportunity, power and position. He was wealthy, and yet, he still struggled with being depressed and discouraged. That tells me that having to choose to rule over negative feelings is something every person has to deal with. Don’t think you’re alone if you feel this way. Turn to God and His hope. Don’t think, “If I just had more money, if I had a better job, if I had a different spouse, then I’d be in a good mood, Joel. Then I wouldn’t have to deal with these feelings.” No, you may think that, but every person has to fight the temptation to just give in and live by how we feel.

I love what David did; he talked to himself. He said,“Why are you cast down, oh, my soul? Hope in the Lord.”

That’s Psalm 42. He was saying in everyday language, “David, what are you doing in a bad mood? Stop looking at your problems and start looking at your God.” That tells me that true joy is found only in God, when you take your eyes off of how you feel and your circumstances and place them on God and His Word.

Sometimes the best thing we can do is talk to ourselves and speak scripture over our lives. When you’re tempted to be in a bad mood, go look in the mirror and say, “Listen here, self. You need to cheer up. Get your joy back, get your peace back. I’m not going to live this day defeated.” You have to stay on the offensive. Don’t wait until you’ve been down for three days before you decide to do something about it. The moment you feel that discouragement trying to come on you, rise up and say, “No, I’m not going there.” You wake up in the morning and feel the blahs, you say, “Nope, that’s not for me. This is going to be a good day. It’s the day the Lord has made.”

Do you know being in a sour mood because of your problems doesn’t make it better, it makes it worse? It puts more pressure on you. It makes you more miserable. A better approach is to say, “God, I’m turning this situation over to You. I’m not going to let it steal my joy. I know You’re in control. And at the right time, I believe You’ll not only turn it around, but You’ll bring me out better off than I was before.” That’s how we rule over negative feelings. It’s simply a decision that we make every day where we have to dig our heels in and decide that our feelings are not going to dictate what kind of day we’re going to have. You can rule over your emotions and choose to be in a good mood in spite of how you feel. You can choose what kind of day you’re going to have. You can choose how you’re going to live your life.

I know some of you, maybe in the natural, have a good reason to be down and discouraged. But don’t allow yourself to go there. When you are stable in spite of what’s come against you, that’s one of the best ways to show God that you’re trusting Him.

Decide not to live by how you feel. Go deeper than that and start living by what you know. You know God is in control. You know He’s got a great plan for your life. You know His power is greater than any other power. When you wake up and those old negative, discouraging thoughts and feelings come, shake them off. Be done with that roller coaster living. Don’t give into your emotions and let them keep you from God’s blessings and promotion. Start choosing to live each day in God’s peace. Decide that you’re going to have a great day. By doing so, you will see God work in your life in greater ways because your eyes are fixed toward Him instead of your situation, and you’ll live the life of victory He has in store for you!

Every Day a Friday is a quick and approachable read. It is filled with advice on how to live a more fulfilled and happier life by simply applying the principles found in God’s Word and using the common sense that your mama taught you about how to get along with others. None of what Joel talks about in this book is profound, yet he presents principles that seem to get lost in the very day crunch of life. This book is a good reminder for us to live closer to what God intends for us, rather than living under the oppression of our modern lifestyle. From Scripture and his life experience, Pastor Osteen shares seven principles for happiness in this book. “Jesus talked about everyday life, not just doctrine but how do we live, how do we forgive. How do we keep a good attitude when the economy is down. Joel says that, “The basic premise of the book is that, in the end, happiness is a choice.”

In one chapter, Joel talks about happiness being a choice that we make every day. Here he tells the story of John, a 92-year-old man, who is blind and a widower. John decided that it was time for him to move into the seniors’ home. On the morning of the move, a cab came to pick him up. He was waiting, dressed impeccably, his hair neatly combed and cleanly shaved. Upon arrival at the home, he waited for more than an hour before Miranda, an aide, came to show him to his new room. As he maneuvered his walker down the hallway, Miranda told him about the room, describing how the sunshine came through the window, and about the nice desk area. He kept saying, “I love it. I love it. I love it.” Miranda laughed and said, “Sir, you aren’t there yet. You haven’t seen it. Hold on a few moments and I will show it to you.” John replied, “No, you don’t have to show it to me. Whether I like my room or not does not depend on how the furniture is arranged. It depends on how my mind is arranged. Happiness is something you decide ahead of time.”

This and many other stories help illustrate Pastor Osteen’s points in Every Day a Friday. He says that when Monday morning comes, decide ahead of time that there are no Monday morning blues. Instead, chose the Monday morning dos by saying, “I do have a smile. I do have joy. I do have God’s favor. I do have victory.” Good advice for us all to follow regardless of our particular doctrinal stance.
